Comparing writing for Helium and blogging

Members are encouraged to get in touch with each other about work, and can socialize on the community forums asking questions about things they worry about. Blogs leave you feeling rather alone and don't have that element of community Helium does.

Zones.

Why have a blog when you can have a Zone. With the introduction of Helium Zones, which are better than a personal blog, members can now have a webpage devoted to their area of interest without getting lost out there in blog-land. The community which happens on Helium website, also extends to the Zone area where groups of like-minded people can get together for group projects, and have the facility to message each other.

Overall.

A blog is a place which allows a writer to write about things they are interested in. It will have certain guidelines just as Helium has writer guidelines, though the difference is that the interaction between a member and Helium itself is diverse, and encourages the writer to produce more than a blog would. Every time a member rates, they are presented with possible topics to write to. Every time they write, they are in direct competition with other writers, and the biggest difference between blogging and Helium is that there is some form of measurement which helps a writer to grow, not in isolation, but in an ambiance of enthusiasm. Help is available. There are workshops and mentors, and staff who are easily contacted. The difference lies in having a place where your voice matters, but also one where your word is read, rather than festering on an anonymous blog lost in cyberspace , among so many other pages. Helium offers bloggers a step up from being a blogger to being a recognized and paid writer.
