Travel destinations: Argentina

Located only a thousand miles from Antarctica, one would expect Argentina to be a vast array of glaciers and uninhabitable tundra. This is only partially true. Like most countries in South America, here you will find a spectacular variety of landscapes and terrain features. All without leaving Argentina, you can experience the wonder of the Perito Moreno Glacier or warm up to the fire of a Buenos Aires Tango dinner theater.

The southern region bordering Chili and Argentina is where you will find rolling plateaus and mountain ranges as well as glacial lakes. Most of this territory is relatively uninhabited due to the rugged topographical features. This does not stop droves of tourists and adventurers from trekking out to experience the beauty it has to offer. The snow capped Andes and the cavernous lake-filled valleys surrounding San Carlos de Bariloche are well worth the trip for the explorer.

If the agenda is to relax in isolation and take in ranch-reminiscent country side, the northern Pampas offer a very different Argentina. The Estancia El Colibri near Cordoba is perfect for those looking to get lost in early 20th century Argentinean gaucho. Surrounded by miles of natural park, El Colibri offers the best environment for rest and revitalization. The nine suites are decorated differently from each other, providing an at-home comfort. The owners enlisted the design and work of the best craftsman from the region to create a resort from the finest materials and authentic antique furniture.

Most of the meals served at Colibri are prepared with fresh products coming directly from their farm such as beef, lamb, eggs, milk, fruits and vegetables. Dining at this resort will present you with the best native foods and wines the Pampas has to offer.

The spa is host to Yoga lessons, massage therapy and facial treatments. The heated swimming pool faces the Cordoba Mountains and is open nearly the whole year. The spa is equipped with a Jacuzzi, a Turkish bath, high pressure showers and a massage room. When you stay at Estancia El Colibri, the staff ensure beyond any doubt that you are pampered.

With their professional Pio Otamendi, El Colibri offers tailor made polo clinics for beginners and advanced players. Personalized lessons and practice games can also be organized. Before the evening barbecue at the club house, you can share a game with their Argentinean ponies and players known to be some of the best in the world.
