We were married by a Justice of the Peace in Mississippi not far from Vicksburg, which is on the Mississippi River. The Justice saw that we were nervous so he served some rather stiff drinks which we anxiously partook of.
My sisters boyfriend and my husband had become very good friends so they were our witnesses.
My husband was in the Navy so time was short. He only had a few days before he was being shipped to Hawaii.
Everything that night was so giddy and we were extremely happy and making jokes.
"What about a three day honeymoon?" My husband asked. "Now, where in the world can we go for three days?" I asked.
My sisters boyfriend answered, "To a fishing camp I know of on the River." He stated matter-of-factly. "There is a hotel that overlooks the river where we can stay tonight."
Oh great! My sister and her boyfriend were going with us on our honeymoon. I mean, really, it WAS great.
We drove to Vicksburg still in a happy mood and found the hotel where we spent the night.
The next morning, my sisters boyfriend suggested we go across the river and find the fishing camp and away we went, still excited. Going across the river is an excitement in itself and what fun we were having as we had stayed up late that night anyway.

We arrived at the camp where the lady in the restaurant was just cleaning up.
"I can get you some breakfast, anyway," she told us cheerfully.
We accepted.
Looking around, I saw that it was a shack on high stilts with a screened porch where we would eat our food. The trees and bushes were thick but, I could see trails where other people had trod so I thought nothing more of it. There were benches at the tables on the porch where we sat and the food was delicious.
We finished up and my sisters' boyfriend got all his fishing equipment out of his car trunk, which included rods and reels and the works. We could buy bait there. He said he carried them around with him wherever he went, just in case.
It was February and a bit cool but, not too cool for fishing to a Mississippian.
My husband and my sisters' boyfriend rented a boat and went out on the river. My sis and I stayed behind with the rods and reels and went to look for a space to cast.
She told me she had been there before with some girl friends. One of the girlfriends had brought her little dog with her so it could
