Marketing your small business during the recession doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. If you want to get the word out about your business and the economy is taking a bite out of your marketing dollar. Fear not. There are several ways to market your small business during tough economic times.
Word of mouth.
What better way to get the word out about your business. Keep business cards handy for these moments.
Networking.
This is also a great time tell people what it is you do and how you can be of service.
Strategically placed business cards.
Leave your business card on the table when you dine out, include one with the bill.
Volunteer.
Volunteer within your community (make sure you wear something with your logo and carry business cards). It's always nice to see someone who works in the community give something back.
Create a blog.
Blogs are inexpensive (free in most cases) and can assist in getting the word out about your business. Blogging is aneasy way to gain market share and get the word out about your business. It's inexpensive advertising and doesn't create a big hole in your pocket.
As the economy improves, business owners will want to be more selective about where to spend their advertising dollars. Making wise choices now will produce better results later. Your advertising dollars will be better spent and less of them will walk out the door. As you're looking for ways to get the word out and increase the return on your investment, remember customer service. With good customer service, you'll drive more business in. In this day and age of poor customer service, if your customer service is better than the business down the street, your business will flourish. Keep in mind that you are competing for the same dollar. Good luck, hope this helps.
