How dancing brings people together

by Stephany Martinez

Created on: February 22, 2009

How someone dances can tell a lot about them, and how they dances with others, shows a lot about how they are towards other people. Whether extremely confident or timid and self conscious, it's all in reading people. So dancing with friends is good because you can get to know them better personality wise as well as their secret dance moves that you're dying to learn.

Dancing can be a very intimate thing in any culture, so when a romantic couple dances together, it puts them in a whole new element. This couple is seeing each other in a whole different environment and uncomfortable or not, they will most likely cling to each other. The more and more comfortable they get with one another, the better the relationship will become.

The beat of the music, the type of dancing, the environment, all of these things play into how people will react to each other while dancing. It takes you away from the harsh realities of life for a while and one can get lost in the melodies and movements. It doesn't matter whom one's dancing with, a friend, a stranger, a lover, a husband, or brother, dancing livens people up and lets them let go of things and be themselves. At that point people see each others true colors and can become either closer or drawn away.

When it comes to dancing in studios with a group, the dancers become a team, working together to create a great dance piece as a whole. Performing in perfect unison creates a connection between the individuals not only as dancers but as people too. Dancing with others takes a lot of working together and accommodating each others talents and challenges.

Ranging from going clubbing to putting on a big performance on stage, dancing will always be a way that brings people closer together. It post a challenge to those involved keep up, entertain, connect, have fun, relax, and get to know those whom one is dancing with. It can be artistic and sophisticated or it can be loose and fun.

Dance shouldn't be completely intimidating to people, it can often come off that way and it's just unfair.

Yes, it may be embarrassing to seeing old dad dancing it out like a crazy rubber chicken at a cousins wedding but come one, I bet that little five year old he's dancing with is having just as much fun as he looks stupid. All kinds of dancing can bring people together no matter what kind of dancing it is.

Dancing brings out a different side of people, a side others don't see often, and that alone can draw people closer together. Whether it's falling in love, becoming best friends, or being closer as siblings, dancing can do wonders on the relationships with the people that surround us everyday.
