When searching for a bathing suit the most important thing, before color and style, is getting the perfect fit. If you select one too tight you will have to contend with rolls and bulges, but buy one too big and once it gets wet it will sag and possibly reveal far more then intended! This article looks at tips on how to get the perfect fit.
Separates can be your best friends
Unless you are perfectly proportioned you will often find that you need a different size top to bottom. Or you might find that the style suits you on top, but the matching bottom doesn't. This is why the majority of good swimsuit designers now sell swimwear in mix and match separates. This enables you to select both the correct style and fit in both your top and bottom.
Choose a style which has adjustable closures
Adjustable styles are the best way to get a perfect fit. Look for top styles that allow you to tie behind the neck and back and bottoms that have tie sides. When your bathing suit is new you can tie it loosely to avoid the creation of muffin top, underarm chunket or back rolls. As it stretches or becomes loose in the water you can tighten the ties up. A string bikini is not your only option when it comes to adjustable styles; there are now a good variety of styles which offer this versatility. For example, wider halter neck tie tops, adjustable bandeau tops, adjustable bra strap style tops, wider tab tie side bottoms and adjustable drawstring options.
Select the right style for your body type
If you don't select a style that compliments your body type, it will be somewhat irrelevant if you choose the correct size or not because it will not be a flattering fit. Consider the following tips:
*Small Bust-look for skinny straps and light padding
*Large bust-look for styles which lift and support you such as; thick straps, under wires or power net support. Also look for substantial fabrics.
*Small hips and butt-boy leg styles with full back coverage.
*Large hips and butt-high cut legs with moderate rather then full back coverage.
*Full stomach-tankini styles with ruching over the stomach region, wrap styles, blouson styles or styles which have power net control in the stomach area.
Buying the correct size
Many women are tempted to buy a psychological size rather then their correct size. The fit of a bathing suit needs to be snug because swim wear stretches when wet and over time with use. However, the fit should not be overly tight either. To ascertain the correct firmness take note of the recommended measurements, or seek the advice of a knowledgeable sales person.
