Science fiction has been a genre that has been around for a long time and has invoked the imaginations of many fans. I love science fiction and grew up watching movies and television shows that are set in some science fiction setting. Over the years, I found many things that seem not quite right in many movies and television shows that really stretches my suspension of belief. I am not saying I am an expert, but they don't make a whole lot of sense if one knows some things about science or simple common sense. Here is my list of 10 things that science fiction got wrong.

10. There is no sound in space. Sound is transmitted by the vibration of molecules and in space there are barely any molecules to vibrate. In many science fiction movies, you can hear the ships roaring through space and laser zapping and causing loud explosions. You can hear asteroids slamming into each other and planets exploding. However, one movie slogan said it right. In space, no one can hear you scream. There is only silence in space. The movie 2001 had it correct in the scenes in space where it was completely silent. Of course, it felt weird and got boring real fast not hearing anything.

9. In movies and TV, an alien and a human can have a hybrid baby together. It seems so easy for a human to impregnate an alien and vice versa. Why is that? An alien evolved on a different planet from us with completely different DNA and everything. And yet, they somehow have compatible biological parts and their egg or sperm seems to work with ours. But a human can't make a baby with a chimpanzee which definitely has similar parts and very similar DNA. Science states that different species cannot interbreed. I always had a problem with that and yet they still keep having alien human freaks.

8. Another thing with aliens is that they speak the same way as we do. They can pronounce our sounds flawlessly and vice versa and their grammar and way of thinking is the same as ours. It is as if they evolved their language in a neighboring country on Earth than on some totally different planet light years away from us.

7. They have planets with only one environment. There is a world where it is totally desert and somehow people can survive on it. There is a world of frozen tundra and snow. There is a world totally covered in ocean. There is a world covered completely in forests of the same large trees. Earth is very diverse with many different environments around the world. It is just laziness or lack of imagination,
