Each step I take in caution,
along the path to find my way.
Shadows hide my fears,
beneath the different shades of gray.
Keep my feet moving,
music in my ears.
Clenching my pocket ipod,
walking from my fears.
I feel footsteps behind me,
I'm scared to look behind.
If someone takes my life away,
I wouldn't really mind.
I feel a presence closing in,
I hear a breath that isn't mine.
The footsteps sound much louder now,
my anxiousness is slowing time.
I dare not look in shades of gray,
I didn't then and wont today.
In the game of terror I refuse to play,
or my body lay in shades of gray.

Shades of gray are all around, when I lay down at night.
You wonder why they come this way, and not in black and white.
