If you don't want to do something, one excuse is as good as another. - Yiddish Proverb
Yes, first and foremost, stop making excuses as to why until now you don't have a job. Everything starts with your will to land a job. As to how strong this "will" is what matters. Here are some steps that might help you out.
1. Look
Begin your search. You could go on line. Make use of this new technology that we have. Although Internet had given/shown us lots of inadequate and unsuitable things but definitely it also had made things easier for us. And luckily, finding a job is one of them.
Read the newspaper. Go directly to the classified adds section. Don't ever think this looks so primitive. There are still a lot of companies out there who are spending a lot just to find qualified individuals to join their team.
Use your life line: Ask a friend. That's why they are called friends because they are there to help us out. Your friend's company might have an opening. Or your friend might know somebody who knows there's an opening in a certain company. This could be one benefits of Social Networking.
Do Walk-in. Seek and you shall find. Sometimes, especially those companies who already have a reputation or those who doesn't need to advertise about their firm usually don't advertise their job openings as well. It's never a sin to ask.
2. Prepare
Remember what Confucius said? Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure.
Now that you have finally found probable companies and positions you wish to apply, it's now high time to get your self ready. Put yourself together. Think of every skill, every quality that you have that might be your edge from other applicants and will be the reason why you'll be hired. Now is the time to make that resume and cover letters. Look for examples on line as to how to make the best resume and cover letters. Revise your works as often as needed.
3. Submit
There is no stopping you now. Upload or email that resume. Give that cover letter to the HR department. Have your self schedule for an interview if it's already possible. And for some companies, have your self scheduled to take the company's pre-employment exam already so you could prepare.
4. Follow-up
Don't waste those efforts that you had made. Following up only shows how determined you are to get that job. You know what's the synonym of "follow"? It's "succeed".
5. Hope
Now that you have done everything in order to get that job that you want to have, it's never a bad thing to ask for some grace from a supreme being. No matter what religion you may belong, just ask/seek/pray for some help.
There are a lot of jobs out there. If we only know how to look, prepare and hope for the best. Often times though, we only hope for the best with-out doing any thing. Not everything in this world will be spoon feed to you. You have to do your part. Not all things are easy. But it will be easier if you'll find a way. It's definitely not easy to get a job especially these days. But you will if you have the will.
