On October 21st 2008 one of the most anticipated role-playing games sequel was released on Xbox 360 , this game was called Fable 2 and was promised to be everything the first Fable was and more and they succeeded to a somewhat good standard.
The game is set in a false land called Albion which is loosely based around Victorian England and includes accents, clothing and building styles from that period. There are referances of a far land called Samarkand which is based around Africa and a further expansion you can download is based around the more Celtic knothole island.
Graphics-8/10
The graphics are good for a Xbox 360 game and are an improvement from the original Fable and it still has a unique cartoonist realism to it and the colour palette ranges from light greys, for happy good areas to dark browns, greens and yellows to display dark evil areas. Sometimes the colours don't match up and there is a lag in loading colours and textures.
Fighting-combat- 8/10
The combat is a brilliant use of 3 buttons x for sword combat , y for rifle and gun combat and B for magic. combining all 3 and adding different variations of these attack to make combos is a fun and effective was to develop your characters. Some attacks require you to hold a button down to activate a sword power attack called a Flourish or with magic it increases its damage or effect on enemies and with ranged combat it allows you to target enemies and there limbs. Only one problem is that some attacks don't connect or some magic doesn't register as an attack.
Story- 6/10
This is the only problem with this game is the lack of a solid storyline that captivates the player, it seems like there is no urgency to do anything ,don't get me wrong the story has some gripping set pieces and some parts are quite good it just seemed lacking in depth and I got really annoyed at the lack of a real final boss.
Exploration-7/10
This is better than the first Fable and the exploring is a lot greater and it adds another 4+ hours of gameplay just exploring unfortunately it gets tedious after a while and can get very repetitive and when you only have one item left from a set like keys or statues it can get very laborious!
Overall this game is good for what its worth and is fun to play but I would wait until the price drops to a more cheaper price and it would be a good game for fans of exploration but if your looking for a difficult game or a challenge this game isn't really a game for you but I enjoyed it for what it is.
