angles at the base of the pole for better stability after you carpet the pole.
Take your rope and tightly wrap the base of the pole for a good scratching post. Start at the bottom of the pole and occasionally pound a nail or screw in a screw into the rope to attach it firmly to the post.
Stagger platforms around the pole upwards by taking 15 inch squares of ply board or wood that have already been carpeted and attach them by cutting a notch in the platform that will fit the size of your pole. For example, if your center pole is a 5 by 5 in square, you will need to cut a 5x5 inch notch into your platform. Place an angle at the base of the platform and screw into the base of the platform and the side of the pole.
Make as many platforms as you choose but stagger them in different positions and a foot apart upwards for added stability to your cat tree.
At the top of your cat condo you can add a larger platform for your cat or cats to lie on, or to hang over and attack people who walk by or even other cats who are trying to get to the top. Cats like to be "King of the Castle" so a top platform is highly recommended.
Use another long bolt down into the center pole and then glue on your carpeting using your strong adhesive.
Once your cat condo is finished, you can add fun toys to hang from different platforms, such as toy mice, feathers etc. Sprinkle a little catnip on it (if your cat likes the stuff) and you and your furry people are now ready for a ton of fun.
