Chapter 1 - Meeting of Demise
Misria dropped the cloak to the ground, and turned in time to see her father backing across the courtyard battling fiercely. There was a myriad of colors bursting like miniature fireworks as aggressive and defensive spells clashed and scattered. Eclipse reared up, his voice echoing into the night. Caught off guard, Misria stammered sideways and tripped, falling to the ground.
She looked back out the door quickly. Her father was still a distance from the doorway in close combat with three people who closed around him abruptly. They were all wearing the same cloaks Misria had noticed on Algor and Wormstrum. The woman's long, red hair was pulled back into a low ponytail atop the lowered hood, and her sleek form seemed to dodge oncoming spells with ease. Her back was toward the doorway, so Misria could not make out what her face or clothing looked like. Yet, she seemed oddly familiar.
A giant of a man had the hood of his cloak still pulled low shadowing his entire face, but neither the cloak nor his size seemed to inhibit his ability to fight. His clothing, though dark in color, appeared to be in good condition. His large form seemed to tower over the others. He was obviously accustomed to using this feature to manipulate his opponents' movements as he advanced on Christopher pushing him toward one of other members of the meeting now lying lifeless on the ground. Christopher stepped quickly and carefully backward over an outstretched arm that was obviously meant to trip him.
The third figure leapt toward his prey. Obviously the youngest of the group, his face and hands were devoid of lines acquired only by age and experience. Long, blonde locks spilled from the top of his head past his shoulders while the sides of his head were clean-shaven to his tanned skin. His fighting showed his arrogance and need to prove himself as he continued firing spells through the air that did not even reach their target. As he landed between the woman and Christopher, the woman had to raise her wand to avoid hitting the young man in the back of the head and sending a red bolt of light past his ear that splintered a tree in the distance with a loud crack. She looked to the large man who motioned for her to remain calm.
Christopher saw his advantage here and hit the young man with a spell that sent him through the air into the unsuspecting woman while her head was turned. Christopher immediately spun around and hit the larger man in the chest with a bolt
