Found myself.
There I am
Red headed vision in a rear view mirror
With eyes that give away
That I am my father's daughter.
I don't get many second glances anymore
Since my transformation into middle age
I look more like somebody's mom or their wife
And it's okay, because that's who I am.
This is the real me.
It's a shame that I look at my own snapshot
And see only my double chin
There's more to me than middle-aged spread
I am introverted and introspective
And interesting and deeper than this skin.
I am adventurous and also scared
I despise small talk for the sake of it
And women who look me up and down again
And peoples lack of soul and depth
And love for the ordinary.
I cried when I saw Shamu for the first time
Whale love; can you believe it?
My heart is soft even after everything I've been through
I long for more encounters with beauty.
I see the miraculous in that.
I am a redeemed soul, unambiguous about
My future or about eternity.
Because the God who created me visited here
Sacrificed, and reconciled our broken relationship
And heart. Now we do the journey together.
Life defined.

I'm the One!
