Being a resident of New Orleans it is a must that you know how to throw a great Mardi Gras party. First things first you will need to know what location you are having your party in. Then you need to get invitations and you want them to be green, purple, and gold so that you stay with your theme. You should put on your invite that your guest should wear their best costumes because there will be a King and Queen of the party, also a best dressed male and female.

You need to understand the way Mardi Gras is celebrated and then take and make it your own and add it into the party. It is really fun to show people what Mardi Gras is a greatest party ever. Again remember that you need a lot of green, purple, and gold in your party so get plates and cups. Get colored streamers and mix the three colors into everything you decorate, after all this should be like a mythological party so make sure that you have unique decorations you can find them for cheap prices and they will make your party pop. You should get masks so that when your guest start to arrive hand them the mask and welcome them to the Mardi fun come in and enjoy your night of wonders and mystical creation. If you really want to get your guest something really special go the specialty beads route and find beads that show a part of the people that are coming to your party.

When you are planning your party make sure that you add the jazz music in with your own mix of music. You can also get gold toss coins this is a big part of the parades because every krewe has their own special throw coins and they are made with the krewe's name on them so that you can collect them and see how they change over the years. Get glow stick and glow rings and bracelet's. Now the fun part what would a Mardi Gras party be without the Cajun food and everything that goes with it. Here are 11 types of food that are good for Mardi Gras parties.

1.) Steamed Craw fish

2.) Po' Boy Sandwiches

3.) Gumbo

4.) Red Beans and Rice

5.) Shrimp Beignets

6.) Cajun Hashbrowns

7.) Sweet Potato Casserole

8.) Bread Pudding

9.) Spicy shrimp cocktail

10.) Grilled Craw fish

11.) Mardi Gras Salad ( green lettuce, purple cabbage, shredded carrots or golden rasins , yellow tomatoes, or cheese for gold.

You can make Mardi Gras punch just use equal parts of the following.

Grape Juice

Pineapple

Lemon/lime soda

Remember to put your baby in the cake and wait to see which guest finds him and then you have to tell those that have never even heard of before so tell the rules and then you go and enjoy your party and then always make sure that everything is done and decorated before anyone begins to show up. And after your party remember to tell people to take home decorations and food this way it is less for you to pick up and clean. So now that you are done sit down and pat your self on the back and have a glass of wine and clean in the morning.
