First things first this game was made by Bethesda studios and is a role-playing shooter , the graphics are good for an Xbox 360 game with ragdoll physics and a very interactive detailed post-nuclear environment with many weapons , items and accessories, it has its own timeline and spans a lot of varied history different from ours which can be captivating for those interested in it. Another thing I liked is the variations of well know fool like coca cola is called Nuka-cola and macaroni and cheese is called blamco and cheese its little thing like that that makes this game more believable
The game begins with your character being born which is a very unique way to start the game , as you come out you see your father who is called James and your mother who you only see her legs called Catharine, after this you select your gender and your facial appearance for the game and your farther will be loosely based around your characters appearance, shortly after your mother dies of a heart attack.
After this it skips one year ahead and you learn the basics of movement and in world item manipulation and you also assign your main attributes using a book called YOUR SPECIAL , it uses this as a unique stat allocation system and has been used in the original fallout games as well.
It then skips to your tenth birthday and you gain your PIPBOY 3000 which is essentially your weapons, items, notes and quests journal and you also learn how speech can cause various reactions from people, you also get a BB gun and you learn how combat works and how V.A.T.S (vault assisted targeting system) works.
After this you skip to sixteen and you take a G.O.A.T test to allocate your secondary skills which you can also upgrade by levelling up and reading certain books, this is also where you can get your first karma change.
After the test you wake up at the age of eighteen and you find out your farther has escaped the vault and you go to find him, after this part the game is completely free roam and you can do and go wherever you want whenever you want. This makes this game very open ended and how you do thing is entirely up to you , if you love big guns and seeing people get blasted to bits you can do that , or if you like the sneaky assassin character you can focus on this its that varied and no two characters or the world there in will be the same. It eases you into the game play and its very simple to get lost in this immersive game and the world its set in I lost myself for weeks scavenging and trying to survive in this post-nuclear environment and it is a must for fans of role-playing games and shooters alike.
