Certainly, do not put fake pictures up. Even pictures that are too professional sometimes lead guys to think you are dishonest. Most guys are scared of dishonest people, so be honest. You don't have to be brutal about yourself though. If you are fat, say you are little overweight. Don't say you are in shape. A lot of guys are actually looking for someone who does not belong on the cover of some men's magazine. Appeal to those who are really looking for you.
4. Pay attention to your photos. First, make sure you have photos. In this day and age, there really is no excuse for not having pictures available. If you have to, go down to a photo shop and get them to scan a few onto a disk or something. There are so many ways to get pictures. Secondly, do your photos clearly show your face? Though, your private bits are always fun to look at, believe it or not, must guys want to see your eyes. They want to know what you look like. Mug shots are not necessary, but something that gives the overall picture is.
5. Be careful. There are those out there who could wish you harm. You wouldn't be the first queer to get lured out at night and beaten to death, so be careful. It's best to meet in a fairly neutral location first, but if you aren't going to do that there are some other steps you can take. First, think about where you are going to meet. Is it up on some secluded road where there is no traffic and he's going to pick you up in his van? If it is, you might want to re-evaluate your decision. A restaurant would be a good choice, the creepy house on the hill is probably a bad choice. Try to limit the risk.
6. Bring condoms. Even if it's just a conversation, things can easily turn into something hotter. Be prepared. There is nothing worse than getting all hot and than having to just stop because someone forgot the rubbers.
7. If you had a good time, let him know. Don't just storm off after your dinner or recreational activity. No one is expecting flowers in the morning, (though that would be a good way to knock him off his hoofs), but a simple "thanks, that was fun" is usually better than a grunt and a nod.
8. If you liked him, but he didn't like you, stop calling. There is nothing worse than a guy who just won't let go when it was only one date. If you really fancy him, and he clearly doesn't fancy you, you just have to move on. Sorry.
9. For those of you who are looking for a meaningful relationship from an on-line dating service, be a bit reserved in talking about that. A lot of guys find it creepy if the guy they chat with starts talking about plans and relationship too quickly. If the on-line chat is taking a natural turn towards relationship, than follow that, but don't start off your communications by outlining exactly what kind of guy you want to spend your life with.
10. Move at the pace you are comfortable with. Don't be afraid to ask him to slow down if you think he's going to fast for you. " Experienced" on line daters can sometimes have the tendency to jump right past the flowers, the dinner, the opera tickets and jump right into...other things. If that is not for you, don't let anyone rush you. If he can't wait, get your doctor friend to write him a prescription, or just find someone else who will respect your boundaries and your time issues.
