Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is a free roaming action RPG set in a false world where the player plays a hunter who goes out into different areas through quests to earn money and other various items. The graphics are good for a Playstation portable game and it looks like early Playstation 2 graphics, there are no real glitches and the gameplay is quick to grasp and is enjoyable and addictive once you get into the basics.

The game starts off with no real indication on what to do or where to go so I suggest reading the manual for beginners new to this game, This is very much like the first Monster Hunter game and it includes practically the same monsters, weapons and armour with a few new updates.

First thing first you can select between eleven types of weapons each with its own attack and defence styles and some even have status effects which you must use to defeat the monsters you encounter , here is a list of the weapons,

1)Great Sword

This weapon is one of the most powerful weapons in the game and has a wide area of effect but it is also has a really slow attack speed which tends to mean you get hit a lot , you can block but it makes your blade blunt so it bounces off enemies.

2)Long Sword

This is a good overall weapon with a long reach and a wide area of effect, it is especially good for combos and is quite quick, also you get a special gauge which lets you unleash a very powerful combo on your enemies, personally this is my favourite weapon and is great for beginners and experts alike.

3)Dual Blades

These are good for many quick attacks on an opponent and are mostly used as a hit and run weapon, the damage is low but it usually carries status effects like paralize or poison , you also have the deamonisation ability which makes your characters attacks more extravagant which in turn makes your damage increase.

4)Hunting Horns

These are huge horns you can use to give buffs and status boosts to your party and have a high damage output , you cant block and without a party your buffs will be useless I advise if your not in a party stay away from this weapon.

5)Hammers

This weapon can smash monsters and break bits off them, the damage output is very high and the attacks are short range, a special ability is to slam the hammer into the ground causing a shockwave once your special ability has charged up, grat weapon with some practice.

6)lance/Gun lance

Both are good long range weapons and both are used similar with an emphasis on mid range defensive combat as you are also armed with
