Jesus once again addressed them: "I am the world's Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in." John 8:12 MSG Bible As I look around me, I see the world I live in getting darker and darker, more evil by the day. Who knows where to turn anymore?

People look to the government to help them. They think that electing a new and different kind of President than we have ever had will solve the problems we face. Or maybe the new stimulus plan that he proposes will solve all our dilemmas.

Every day someone comes up with new ideas and concepts to make our lives easier and to make us feel better. Sometimes it's a new medicine that is recommended. Other times it is a new thought process from the world's latest Guru that is suggested as the answer for all that ails us. Follow this one's teachings or that one from across the sea, he has all the insight we need to make it through the world's latest and greatest disaster.

About two thousand years ago there was One that walked the earth and He stated that He and He alone was the Light of the World. If we followed His teachings, we would need no other illumination in our lives. For years people found this to be true. Our country and it's government was founded on the principles that He taught.

Slowly as our great country grew, we thought we knew better. After all, look at how all the world looked up to us. We had the best of everything, technology, freedoms, power, wealth and employment opportunities. Anyone could come here and become anything they wanted to be, maybe even the president!

Now years later as I look at this great country, I see ruin and darkness all around. There is fear everywhere. Who will be the next to loose their job, their savings, maybe even their home?

All the newscasters are predicting doom and gloomdarkness and getting darker.

Where is the Light? Why aren't we seeking Him? He and He alone has held the answers from before the beginning of time. Presidents, ideologies, stimulus packages, mind altering medicines; nothing holds the ultimate answer.

There is only one answer and it is the Light. The same Light that has always shone. The same Light that has always held the answer. When will we seek the Light? When will we let the Light shine through us so that we become the beacon of hope in the darkness?

After all, isn't that what we were called to become, a light that shines in the darkness all around us.
Dear Lord, Thank You that You have always been there as a Light for our path. From the time of Moses as you led your people out of captivity, You have been a Light for our paths. As You lead us out of our captivities help us to let Your Light shine through us. Help us to be that guiding light to You the Eternal Light.
