Survival tips for new parents: How to get extra sleep while caring for babies

Whether there is one or more babies, you always hear people say,"Get as much sleep as you can now." I know it's intimidating thinking about a baby waking up every 2-3 hours to eat but i learned a few things that help get in a few extra z's. Some you might already know but if not here it goes.

-Newborns sleep better wrapped up cause it reminds them of the womb. The nurse at the hospital can show you how to wrap the baby.
-Sleep when they sleep. If you are lucky enough to be able to fall asleep when it gets quiet do. Or every other nap your baby takes, sleep, and the other clean up.
-If you have an older child where you can't just lay down and relax, try putting up the baby gate so they can play in their childproofed bedroom without worry they will be getting into something they know they shouldn't .

The older the baby gets the harder it is to catch as many naps. If you have one that never naps during the day try the baby gate in the bedroom and take a nap close to the room so if something happens you are able to hear your baby cry or holler. Some parents say they are able to take a nap when they put on their kids favorite cartoon or movie. Put your kid on the bed next to you so you can feel when they get up, put on their movie and try to take a nap then. *Remember though, this should only be done when the child get older and more trustworthy. Until then you may want to stick to the baby gate method.*
