There is no doubt in my mind that Cesar Millan is one of the greatest men of our time. He understands the canine breed to a degree that I believe is only one short step from becoming one himself - and that's a serious compliment, Cesar! For the last several years, we have watched his program "The Dog Whisperer", spent time on his site on line, and adopted many of his training techniques. We have owned dogs for as long as I can remember, and I still learn something from him with every episode I see. He has a unique and special perspective that allows him to rehabilitate dogs with serious issues, and train people to treat their dogs correctly to better their relationships with their animals. He is truly remarkable.

This is not to say that Victoria Stilwell isn't talented. I just don't believe that anyone has a better take on dog psychology than Cesar. He takes the hard cases on, and manages to turn them around, even when they start out not wanting to listen to him at all, or have trouble believing that his methods will work (and I'm talking about the humans here). With unending patience, he manages to convey to people that they are largely if not entirely responsible for their dog's behavior (duhhh). Then, without offending the often brain dead owners, he shows them a better way. We recently had the pleasure of watching Cesar's 100th episode and with amusement saw many of his clients we had seen on episodes before. We watched even the most difficult cases, all interacting together and without any conflict. His joy at seeing them all together is testament to the heart of his behaviour and his motivation. He is truly an amazing man, and I hope he reads the many accolades here on his behalf.

We currently have only one rottweiler. We lost his companion and friend just after Christmas this past year after having her from two weeks of age until just before her fourteenth birthday. Our lessons learned from Cesar helped us to cope with not only our grief, but the grief felt by her surviving friend, Taz. He mourned her as much as we did and from Cesar we learned the importance of allowing that process to occur before attempting to replace her in his life. Now, just a few weeks later, we still mourn her, but don't cry when we think of her. We still miss her, but don't break down thinking about her. It is almost time for our big boy to have a new friend. When the time comes, we will employ Cesar's method of introduction, and are grateful for the knowledge he freely shares. We will hope to find a rescue that needs a new home, recognizes as he has taught us that any dog can be rehabilitated. We will remember his recipe of exercise, discipline and affection, and in return we will add another well balanced dog to our home and pack. Thank you Cesar - for your warmth... your intelligence... your gift... your humanity. You truly were a dog in your last life, and we are so glad we had an opportunity to learn from you and grow as a result. Sorry Victoria, Cesar just has it all.
