Poetry: Good-bye

by SFLynne

The sound of the silence awakens me, I look for your presence but am soon reminded you are no longer there,

Maybe too many times I took for granted you would be with me always and perhaps if I had shown just a bit more understanding you would be here with me today,

I guess I was so caught up in my own happiness I didn't think of you, and how you were feeling, and maybe I pushed you to a point that made you feel as if you were losing control,

During this time you took a turn from the road we were traveling on to avoid an obstacle you couldn't deal with, and I, so far ahead of you didn't realize you had left my side, and when the moment came at which I did look for you, you were by now way out of touch, beyond my reach,

You've settled yourself in an environment where the demand is greatly lessened, and now I know you'll never come back, though I still love you with all my heart and as much as I pray for your forgiveness I know that yes, I will finally have to accept my friend, I have finally lost you forever this time........
