Which country's food is the best? Why?

Each country is blessed with their own climate, soil and culinary characteristics. Choosing the country with the best food is ultimately a personal choice. Whether you enjoy the spicy amenities that come along with Mexican Cuisine, the exotic and intriguing flavors of Indian dishes or the milder, yet simple Mediterranean features of Italian cuisine, it seems that each country of this world has its own treasures to unveil. There is no such thing as a country with bad food, they all have different dishes and different products that make them special like no other.

A country's cuisine is shaped by many factors. Other than climate and the composition of the soil, each country has shaped its cuisine based on cultural influences from neighboring countries and invading poplulations, local produce availability and last but not least, economic status. By taking a look at the most popular cuisines, perhaps one may have an idea of which country produces some of the best foods.

The French Cuisine

France, as a country is very generous indeed, offering some of the best food products of the world. Simply, think about Champignon mushrooms, truffles, escargot and its many mulit- million wine producing vineyards. The words, gourmet, chef and cuisine all derive from this mouth watering country.

French bakeries and patisseries are a multi-sensorial experience with the aroma of French Baguettes, the attractive sight of petite fours and eclairs and the warm touch of croissants and briosche fresh from the oven.

France is a cheese lover's haven, holding the record of the biggest producer of cheeses in the world. Just think of Roquefort, Brie and Camembert. Wine connoisseures will rejoice as well, having to choose between Champagne, Grand Marnier, and Bourdeax.

The French cuisine is very versatile. You may savor very simple dishes or you may appreciate some of the most elaborate meals. This is thanks to this country's variety of climates, soil compositions and an uncomparable passion for food. You may find that some parts of France use olive oil while others use butter. In any case, France deserves a spot for one of the most elaborate, varied, but yet simple cuisines of the world.
