The story behind wearing makeup

Why Wear Make-up? Well, for one thing, I like it, that's why!

I like to see it on others, and I enjoy wearing it. I think if one has radiant skin and perfectly balanced features, probably they don't want it, but most women (and some men, too!) can profit from presenting the world with a slightly-enhanced version of themselves. And make up can do that for us.

Make-up gives us a chance to improve or slightly reinvent ourselves. It enables us to enhance what God gave us, bring out our personality and show the world what we are about.

I started playing with makeup way before I was "allowed" to wear it, and maybe that made it more fun. Certainly I shudder when I remember the false eyelashes that got stuck to my date's cheek, and the splotches of blusher that made me look like a clown before I learned how to blend colors so they look natural just a little more polished.

I don't consider that I or any other women who enjoy wearing makeup are necessarily madly obsessed with "looking younger" I am enjoying looking whatever age I am, as long as I can look attractive. When new products come out, I like to give them a try. I noticed my manicurist wearing eyeliner that had flecks of sparkle in it, and I loved it on her, so I went and bought some for myself. It makes me feel "trendy" to wear it. What fun!

I like colors, I enjoy wearing colors and like to have makeup that harmonizes with whatever I'm wearing. It makes me feel " put together" and confident. Getting compliments from other people is like the frosting on the cake. i like to give compliments too, because it makes me feel good to receive them, and I know that the other person, especially a young woman, wants to have her efforts and her appeal recognized.

I like a tinted moisturizer as opposed to foundation, and soft tones for eye makeup. Most people don't realize it but the colorants in makeup are pretty effective sunblocks, so wearing makeup in the outdoors has a benefit.

If you happen to come to my house and catch me without my makeup on, I'm not going to freak out and run away, (unless you do!) But I sometimes apologize to my husband if I am looking sort of haggy and don't feel like putting it on. Luckily, I've trained him and he just puts his arms around me and says he sees the beauty in me anyway. That's what is really important the beauty within whether you wear makeup to bring it out, or just glory in being "au naturel!"
