Runescape mining guide: How to make more money & other great tips

Tick, tick, tick. The steady beat of the pickax, as I fill my inventory with rare rocks only seem in the deepest dungeons and caves guarded by dragons and revenant orks. This is a scenario of myself during a mine for the ores meant for the best of armor. In runescape, one of the most profitable skills is mining. This is part of the "Big three" as it is called, mining, woodcutting, and fishing. These are the main money makers, and to achieve true money from these skills particularly mining, you need skill, patience, and something to relive you from boredom. Did I say boredom? Yes, one of the greatest tips that I know is that mining is that it's actually a very boring skill to raise and make money with, so you want to be ready to watch TV or doing something else when doing some mining. (While watching for dangerous random events and such of course) The best time to stop mining for skill and switch to money is around 50-60, and start mining coal. YES, you can mine more greater things like mithril, but coal is in more of a demand and you can also mine more of it before you even mine 1 of the worthy ores like mith, addy, and rune. Another tip that I would recommend is that you should keep some spare rune picks in the bank, just in case something happens. Most of the methods on this guide will be for f2p.

Locations that I recommend would be in Faldor, because of convenience of the banks. It is almost impossible to mine without other people bothering you when you are in a F2p world, so I would recommend going to the mining spots on a PVP world because of less competition. Another spot would be in lumbridge, at any of the swamp spots.

Money making method 1: This is a long process, including other skills like smithing. In the long run, you can make a boat load of money after you sell the steel bars. First of all, you will want to start buying iron ore. Try not to buy too much, or you will get over-bored while you are smithing. After you have bought your iron, you will want to go mine coal at Faldor. Multiplying the amount of iron by 2 would be the amount of coal you want to mine. After you have your calculated amount of things, head over to the Al Kharid bank. With 9 iron and 18 steel in your inventory, head to the furnace to make your steel bars. This is the boring part, but after you are done and the steel bars are sold, you will have a decent amount of cash in your pocket.

Money making method 2: This is another great method, yet faster then the first. You mine clay south of Varrok near the rune circle, repeating the process many times. After you do this, head over to the general store and buy around 20 buckets. Take 14 buckets and 14 pieces of clay out, then fill up the buckets with water. Use the water with the clay, to make soft clay, then repeat this process. This may seem pointless, but the soft clay can be sold at the grand exchange for a lot of cash.

As you can see, these are two basic ways of making money from mining. You can use these methods, or you can even go ahead and mine ores from more expensive rocks. I hope this helped!
