People hear so much about cruises and wonder if they should schedule a cruise for their next vacation. I am a perpetual cruiser, taking a cruise every year, because I think that cruises are the best vacation ever. But I know that not everyone is like me. So let me detail the many aspects of taking a cruise in order to assist you in making a decision if you might take a cruise.
Many people think that if they are prone to motion sickness, they should stay away from cruising. There are medicines that can alleviate the nausea from motion sickness. There are also patches that can be used behind the ear that also help with nausea. For most people, the ship is so big that unless you were looking out the window, you might not be able to tell that you were on a boat. Depending on what time of year you go cruising will determine how rough the seas are. During hurricane season, the waters can be very rough. In that case, a person with motion sickness would not want to cruise. If they do, they will probably get off at the first port of call and fly home. After hurricane season the waters can be a little choppy also. For example, I went on several cruises in December. The water was calm as long as we were in the Caribbean. On the way home, the colder weather meant rougher waters. Thankfully, that was the last day of the cruise. But that sick feeling, especially if you vomit, might make you not want to cruise ever again.
Do you like meeting other people? On a cruise, there are so many people who have one thing in common: to have fun. For many people on the ship, their idea of fun is going out and participating in activities that will allow them to meet other people. The various activities provide opportunities to meet other also. There are activities, games, and contests which require team participation. Joining in will allow you to meet people. You might even make friends with someone whom you would not have otherwise met. But do not think that you have to be an extrovert to enjoy your cruise. If you would rather not meet people, you do not have to do so. For example, if you do not want to eat with others at dinner, you can request to have a table for two (or however many are in your group). On some cruises, they offer intimate dining options for those who would rather not eat at a table with strangers.
Do you like to eat? Or at least try new foods? The best thing about a cruise is that there are so many types food available. Some of the gourmet dinner options that have been
