Poetry: Secrets

A Smart Secret

I haven't told anyone,

it stays with me,

inside of me knowing, waiting.

But I cannot tell, and it knows,

for if I do it will no longer be,

and if I keep it here inside, it

will torment me, laugh at me.

But that is how it is you see,

my secret, a smart one.

It can see that I want to

tell, it can feel it swelling up

inside of me, waiting to burst, but

yet it wont come out. It thinks to

be funny, but I do not find it funny.

I find it irritating and obnoxious, though

I keep it here anyway.
