Homeless
And upset
No welcome met
To meet
My feet
Feeling worthless
Teeth but toothless
Sour rain
From no roof
As proof
A pavement stain
I stand no ground
Homesick in pain
I pray a home underground
A ceiling
Would be so appealing
Just a door
Or a small window
Any
Any floor
No matter how tiny
So I don't remain a house widow
I once knew a home
A soup kitchen
But then the recession
Brought down my shiny dome
Homeless
I watch from outside house lights burn surplus
Meals not fully digested
I know from the garbage I have tasted
My poverty
And circumstance
I try to save my humanity
With what health I have I try and advance
Find me
Under the skies
Take me not in but invite me for tea
Maybe a few pies
Then maybe a merry outside
I can try and reside
Until then
I know not when
Homeless and starving
No loving
With faith I pray for shelter
With the whole empty sky I ask my creator
