St. Patrick's Day game ideas

Saint Patrick's Day is a holiday revolving around the Luck of the Irish. Many games about this holiday involve adding the color green to it, or throwing in a few Leprechauns for the sport of it. The best games are those that celebrate the Irish holiday without needless gimmicks.

Play a Game of Rugby in the Backyard:
This game, while not entirely Irish in nature, is a rough and tough sport that anyone with a stout vigor and is not afraid of a few bruises would love to play. If one does not know how to play rugby, a quick search for rugby on the internet reveals a plethora of information on the rules. One important thing to note is, if one is playing with children or in a mixed group of men and women, Tag Rugby is a viable option that is fun without the possible injuries.

Play a Little Croquet:
While not the most invigorating of games, sometimes the best games are the ones that go slowly. This old Irish game is perfect for young children and adults alike. Sets of croquet are available in any supermarket's outdoor game area, and the set up is relatively painless. Rules are simple, thwack one's ball through the wickets, hit the two posts, and do all this before the other players can accomplish this. The fun starts when two balls collide, and the original hitter is then allowed to thwack the opponent's ball out of existence. Many a harsh word will be stated at that time.

Have an Irish Drinking Game:
This one is for everyone who is legally allowed to drink in their respective countries and wishes to participate only. Also, be responsible about this sort of thing.

This holiday in March is yet another time of year to gain the excuse of becoming drunk as a skunk. However, the drinking games can become stale if they are the same ones used for every single holiday. Why do it the odd route of beer pong when there's a nearly authentic Irish drinking game one can play. The game is called Irish Quarters and the rules are simple:

-Get a pint of beer as full as one thinks it can chug quickly.
-Spin a quarter on the table
-Quaff the beer, and fast.
-While the quarter is still spinning, fill the pint glass as full as you can
-One must stop the quarter from spinning after the pouring is done.

If the task is completed, it's off to the next person. If the quarter falls flat on the table, either give it another go until you succeed or, in interest of health, step out of the game. The winner is the one left standing or conscious.
