Gone but not forgotten
A toast I make each year
to those who are gone
From life, or from my life
Each year, I get older
And every year I think back
To back in the day
I remember all the ones I love
Celebrate again in my heart
All the cherished memories
Mourn again in my heartThe fights, accidents, suicides
That tore my friends from me
Lament in memory
The diseases, changes, addictions
That caused us to drift slowly apart
Deeply missed are they
Who remind me of the beauty of life
Each year I pull out
The faded Photos, torn notes
Remind myself of the price of years
And drink a toast
To the ones I love and miss
Remembering Always, Forgetting not. Love...Me.
