If a tree falls in the woods and there's no-one to hear it.
How silent are the paradises on earth? This statement in my imagination takes me to a dam on a mountainside where as a ten year old I would seek it out to go yabbying. Trees were all round and there was no one but myself to hear them fall. What a great feeling of oneness with the physical world. I was in the world yet in my world. Further journeys took me through the Australian alps where range upon range of mountains hazily drifted towards the horizon in silence and if the occasional tree did fall it was nature's rhythm. The jungles Papua -New Guinea where I walked were thick with lianas and vines and again the sounds of silence prevailed. In Vanuatu these days the local people are protesting at the many trees falling in their forests. Western moneyed interests are clearing the land and not hearing the trees fall. My wife and I live in the woods but we call it the bush in Australia. We have not heard a tree fall literally but there is bark coming off the gum trees.

Global warming, the polar ice caps melting and the Amazon rain forest being cleared at the rate of ten football fields a day. Oh yes, the developers hear the trees fall as they push them over with their bulldozers. In fact it is music to their ears as they know money will follow from them but they have unwittingly put the indiginous people into the money world for they have taken away their livelihood.
A lone voice crying in the wilderness. The Wilderness of Israel is a most inhospitable piece of hilly almost mountain desert. 2000 years ago there was alone voice crying in this area and His name was Jesus. He was felling symbolic trees full of ideas and hoping someone would hear them crash and spill out their magic for world peace. His main barrier were the rules of religion that a man made organization had created for their own power. Once you do this you block your
