Great attractions of England

riverside is highly recommended to get some great views and photographs of both the castle and the cathedral.

After visiting Durham, a trip to Northumberland is essential. The county has so much to see and do. The Coast of Northumberland is one of the most striking in England. Long sandy beaches and a succession of historic castles proudly line the county's coast. At low tide, you can drive across to Lindisfarne. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is cut off from England twice daily by the sea and with a population only 150 is a very relaxing place to visit. The Island is famous for its traditional Lindisfarne Mead which is well worth a try.

Travelling further inland, Newcastle is another delightful city filled with history. Newcastle has an excellent reputation for its nightlife. Newcastle upon Tyne is a city filled with fascinating architecture with Grey Street being voted as the Best Street in Britain by BBC Radio 4 listeners. Visitors to the city can spend a day shopping or walk around a few of the cities many museums and art galleries such as The Baltic which in the past has displayed work from artists such as Yoko Ono.

While other areas of Britain each have their own history and cultures, in my opinion, the Northeast is the place to visit. I love the city of Newcastle and its surroundings; the coast of Northumbria is spectacular. Any visitors of Britain who do not explore Northeast England are missing out big time.
