LHC Black Hole Fears Are Evaporating

Weather or not the LHC(Large Hadron Collider) will destroy earth has been a world wide fear, and it is mostly the fear of the unknown. The fear comes from the possibility of the collisions making a black holes, which most scientist say it is possible. However, the possibility of it sucking in the earth most scientists say it is not possible. The length of time these nano-scale black holes will theoretically live makes it impossible to live more then a second, and that might be a bit of an exaggeration. The people that makes this possibility impossible are some of the best physicists in world today, including Stephen Hawking to name just one.

For a majority of the time that the LHC idea has been coming to life, scientist have research the possibility of a black hole being created in the collisions. An analysis by CERN(European Organization for Nuclear Research) reported that black holes does not pose danger to the earth. Then later LSAG(LHC Safty Assessment Group) confirmed that conclusion with a paper in 2003. These organizations don't intend to let this project go wrong, they have done multiple checks to make sure everything goes as planned.

Incase that doesn't calm your fear, how about we make that unknown fear a known fear. Black holes was first predicted by Einstein in his equations of General Relativity, and he explained it as a body of mass that has become so great that the gravitational pull cannot be escaped, light it self can't even escape. This is the main source of the fear, which from just that it does sound pretty scary. However, information changes everything.

Stephen Hawking predicted black holes radiate thermal energy, which means that after a very long time they should disappear. On the other hand, as the black hole gets smaller, it disappears faster because there is less energy to be radiated. The scale of the blacks holes that might be created in the LHC collisions is in the nano-scale. This means that in a millionth, perhaps a billionth of a second the black holes will disappear into nothing, this makes it impossible for it to grow till it swallows the earth.

Black holes in the LHC have no possibility of destroying earth, it simply disappears after billionths of a second; many scientist agree with this conclusion. So before you submit yourself into these fears, think about the information I provided. It should discredit your fear entirely, if it still doesn't research black holes yourself and see first hand why I came to this conclusion.
