Valentine's Day is not just for females. Men deserve to be indulged in chocolate too! Although it can be hard to find the perfect gift for the special man in your life, always remember that it is the thought that counts. Does the thought have to be expensive? No Way! The thought is what you make of it. As one can easily walk into a store and purchase a pricey gold watch just because it is a pricey gold watch. However, it won't mean a thing to a man who doesn't like gold or watches for that matter! When choosing a proper gift for Valentine's Day or for any holiday, consider his interests.
The most common V-day gifts are flowers and candy. Is it appropriate to give flowers to a man? Well that all depends on the gift giver as well as the recipient. Giving a man flowers is a little bit out of the ordinary since the majority feel that it is a gift solely appropriate for women. However, it can be a wonderful gift for a man if the man would appreciate the gesture. If you are going to send or give flowers to a man, think about how he would react. Perhaps a more open minded man would welcome the idea of flowers better than a stick to the rule book type of guy. As for candy...well who doesn't like candy? I mean if he is on a diet or obsessed with carbs and whatnot, then this is an obvious no. However, candy and every other dessert can make for a wonderful gift for any male. But again, think of that male and his dietary restrictions or else you have a thoughtless gift. If he is a diabetic or restricts sugar consider a sugar free alternative. And if you want to be a little more personal and special, consider making some homemade chocolate and desserts. Also, preparing an entire romantic dinner for two can make for a memorable gift as "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach."
If flowers and candy are not his forte, then perhaps you should consider his hobbies. Does he like video games? Would he appreciate a video game as a Valentine's Day gift? Is there a movie or book he recently mentioned that he wanted to see or read? Does he like jewelry and can you afford to buy the jewelry he likes? Or even better, why not surprise him with some naughty lingerie? It all depends on his likes, how long you have been together and what you want to give. Obviously a newly dating couple will give different gifts than a married couple. If you are only casually dating, then consider the movie, book or video game idea. If you are dating for awhile, engaged or married then perhaps some lingerie, jewelry, cologne, or a romantic getaway would be ideal. If you are casual or just friends, then something simple is best such as a cute store bought or handmade card. Think of him and your relationship and you will find the perfect gift.
Always remember that buying a gift is not about you. It is about the other person. If you like it but they don't then it is not a good gift. A gift for a guy on Valentine's Day doesn't have to be expensive to be fabulous. It can be homemade or store bought as long as it will mean something to it's recipient. Also, it is important to factor in how long you have known each other, been dating, been friends, etc. to avoid a Valentine's disaster. You definitely wouldn't want to buy a guy you barely know a pair of Prada shoes or give your boyfriend of three years just a card. Yes, it is the thought that counts but there is something as too much thought or no thought at all. It's important to be appropriate according to the person, occasion and relationship.
