Deliberations on the cause of homosexuality

The cause of homosexuality has been debated for a number of years. In this article, I will not be pointing to any medical or psychological studies and their results. Rather, I will be writing about what I know and have learned by living.

I have grown weary of so many people trying to "cure" homosexuality. This cannot be done anymore than "curing" heterosexuality. I have also become tired of people analyzing why someone is gay when they have no idea what they are saying. They have no clue. It is ridiculous to compare homosexuality to pedophilia or to call it an "addiction," as if someone could just go to a program for addicts and cure his or her homosexuality. It is not an addiction, nor is it a compulsion. To those who claim it is not natural and that God made man and woman to have the ability to procreate, I say this doesn't make sense. If sex is only for procreation, then why is it OK for some people to use birth control and still have sex? If a man and woman can't have children for some reason, it is OK to adopt. Many do adopt, but I'm more than sure they do not stop having sex. Also, remember that when the Bible was written, the earth needed to be populated. Today, that is not the case. Since the world has plenty people now, should we all just stop having sex? I don't think that will happen, and I wouldn't wish it to happen!

I believe with every ounce of my being that homosexuality is inborn. Though people point to studies that show it is a learned response, I know it isn't. How am I so sure? Because I was born a lesbian. Contrary to popular belief, I do not feel like I am a man trapped in a woman's body. I have no desire for gender reassignment or anything of the sort. I love being a woman, and I would not change that for the world. It took me more than half my life to understand that I have been gay since birth. In those days, this topic was not up for discussion. One just had to try to adapt to heterosexual life and push these so-called "unnatural" thoughts from one's mind. I did what was expected of me. I got married, had children, and tried to live the lifestyle that everyone wanted for me-the so-called natural lifestyle. It was not until after I was divorced that I realized I had been living according to other peoples expectations and not for my own happiness.

Since I have been living the life I was meant to live, I have done quite a bit of soul searching. I have looked back on my life and tried to put things into perspective. It was during this examination
