How to publish articles online

by Gordon Hamilton

There are a great many ways in which w can go about publishing articles online. How we are best served by doing so, however, I would suggest depends upon our reason or reasons for wishing to so publish. It may be that we simply have the desire to see ourselves published, it may be that we wish to promote theories in such as the scientific community, or it may be that we desire to publish articles simply - or at least chiefly - to make money from them.

If we simply have the desire to see ourselves in print, this category will clearly be the one which affords us the greatest number of options. We can simply sign up for any article publishing site and publish to it, without having to worry about such as rates of remuneration, our eligibility to said remuneration or indeed when payments due us are in fact made. We can simply do a Google search for "Article publishing sites" with the possibility of including the general subject of our article within the search parameters as well and we will be more than spoiled for choice.

If we are looking to publish articles to a specialised field to perhaps gain recognition in said field or among our colleagues, we have to look very specifically as to which sites are firstly available for us to publish on and, more importantly, which ones are most likely to be found and viewed by our colleagues and collaborators. We can of course Google this also which will give us a list of the sites but I would be far more inclined to suggest going to LinkedIn.com, joining up if you are not already a member and contacting a fellow member in your field of expertise for advice. LinkedIn is perhaps best described as a social networking site for professionals and is an excellent way both of interacting with your peers and promoting yourself among them.

I may of course be wrong but I believe that the vast majority of people who wish to publish articles online will include earning from said articles as at least part of their motivation for doing so. If this be the case, I would urge you heed one very strong word of caution: read the small print of article publishing site conditions before you even think about signing up! I know of three people who have been stung very badly by household names in the article writing world. The reality is that there are a huge number of sites who will only pay royalties or other accrued revenues to residents and citizens of the United States of America.
