My dream concert: What's yours

Anyone who is a lover of music like myself knows that one of the greatest pleasures of all time is to see a live concert. Nothing can compare to seeing and hearing someone or some band whose music you have listened to on the radio, whose music you love, whose records you have purchased, who have touched your life and soul like only music can right there in the flesh bringing those songs to life.

I have been quite fortunate in my life to have pretty much seen any and everyone who I have been a true fan of perform live in concert (I used to work at a concert venue) so my dream concert would be one that would only be possible in a dream.

First off would be the venue selection. A place with excellent acoustics of course. Usually that would mean an older smaller theatre. Though a nice close booth in a Las Vegas showroom wouldn't be bad either, of course the draw of the table-side cocktail service is definitely a selling point. But this is about the concert itself so the music is what really matters.

I would love to have the opening act be the Rat Pack. Yes, those crazy old guys from way back when. I think nothing would be better than to see ol' blue eyes sing "Fly Me to the Moon." "Strangers in the Night", and of course "My Way". Next would be Sammy Davis Jr. doing "Mr. Bojangles," and maybe "For Once in My Life." I'd love to hear their witty banter too along with Dino singing "Everybody Loves Somebody", "That's Amore", "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You." And that's just the first act.

Next up, the fab four themselves. In my opinion there never was and will never be a band like the Beatles. I can not imagine how absolutely fabulous it would be to actually see them live, on stage singing their hits. I prefer the older songs from "A Hard Days Night" and "Help", but let's face it, the Beatles could sing the telephone book and I'd be thrilled.

If that wasn't enough for the ultimate extravaganza I'd like the show to close with the King himself, Elvis Presley. Though I've never really been the biggest Elvis fan he is still someone I would have loved to have seen live. Even when he neared the end he was still able to hit those notes and move a crowd like no other.

The finale would be my biggest dream come true when all the entertainers would ask me to join them on stage and we would all sing one of my favorite songs and receive a standing ovation that would seem to last for hours. What would that song be? Well, one I wrote of course! After all, this is my dream concert.
