Produced without the conventional use of pesticides, contaminants, growth hormones and fertilizers, organic food and produce is absolutely worth more than the small amount of extra money you might pay... and is definitely worth it for your health!

Aside from the obvious health benefits that come with chemical free foods, organic farms use far less energy than a conventional farm, do not release synthetic pesticides or chemicals into the environment and it is also thought that they are also far more energy efficient than their chemical laden counterparts.

As shown in recent studies in the last few years, it is now known that over 75% of synthetically farmed food contains a toxic level of pesticide residue, while less than 25% of organically farmed food contains any such residue at all.

What would you prefer, beef that has been subject to Ionizing Radiation (to sterilise), Genetic Modification (to alter genes and DNA) and Growth Hormones (take make something grow unnaturally huge), OR, a natural, organically farmed juicy steak that is chemical free, healthy and free of carcinogens? As a vegetarian I'd actually pass on both, but you get the idea I'm sure!

The same goes for fruit and vegetables, a nice, organic apple free of synthetic pesticide or fertilizers, grown naturally on an energy efficient farm that prides itself in it's healthy, natural produce, OR, an apple that has been ripened over the course of only five days with synthetic chemical ripeners and growth stimulators? You be the judge.

Synthetic pesticides used conventionally in the mass production of fruit and vegetables is a known carcinogen, or cancer causing agent. Along with this, pesticides and fertilizers used in current day produce farming is a huge ecological threat. These chemicals strip the earth itself of minerals and nutrients needed to support life, and have been known to have devastating long lasting effects on local flora and fauna.

Organic farming minimises this chemical spread, not to mention the impact it has on the quality produce itself, which inadvertently will end up on your plate some day, laden with cancer causing contaminants never intended for human consumption.

Organic produce really is worth the small price you may expect to pay to avoid the devastating health, ecological, and global impact it has on us all. Not to mention that there really is nothing quite like taking a big bite out of a juicy, fresh organic apple that you just know is aiding your health with it's chemical free, nutritional, natural goodness...
