Blogging as a career

It has long been said that you can make money from your blog, but I have to say I was a little skeptical. I started my blog but no money came rolling in. I put up Google Adsense and made around $2 in a month. I started looking at other blogs and reality hit me. These people are making money from there blogs by promoting affiliate programs, they have them in their links in the sidebars of their blogs and of course they write very interesting reviews about the products they are going to promote.

I looked again at my blog to see where changes could be made. I had no social bookmarking available to my readers and this is an excellent way to get more traffic and of course more readers to your blog. In fact without readers your blog is useless. I also took a look at the content I was writing. Was it targeted content? Did it contain keywords? Was my content optimized for search engines? All these were important factors that I hadn't taken into account.

I made changes and started engaging with my readers. My traffic soared and my adsense earnings increased too. It wasn't enough though and I need to find something more. I wanted to actually earn money every time I wrote a post. My research started again and I discovered that you could actually get paid to post to your blog.

If you want to make your career out of blogging there are some excellent opportunities available. Bloggerwave.com actually pay you to post. This is a site that is well worth checking out and payment range from $10 to $100 per post. 1 post per day over 30 days is $300 extra in your paypal account and with websites like this you really can make a career out of blogging.

The most popular and most successful paid blogging website is PayPerPost. This is the cream of the crop and there have been some including Brian Clark from Copyblogger who have made $500 for a post about Kmart. PayPerPost does have strict guidelines that you must adhere to in order to qualify. Your blog must be 90 days old or more with regular posts. You also need to have your own domain name so you can't have a free blog. The higher your Google PR the more opportunities you will receive and the higher the pay too.

Your post will have to include a link which you will be given. The length of the post will vary and this is specified in the description for the post you are applying for. You will also have to include some code in your blog so that your blog is approved before you can begin applying for posts.

In February 2009, PayPerPost made some changes and you can now apply for 7 posts each day and you don't have to include a non paid post on your blog in between your PayPerPost posts. Prior to this, you were only allowed to do three posts each day and you had to have a non paid post in between each of these. The pay for posts has also changed and now PayPerPost have opportunities that start from $0.50 all the way up to $500 (you do need a high PR to get the high paid posts though).

With PayPerPost you must keep the post live for 30 days. You get paid 30 days after your post has been approved and payment is via paypal. I worked it out, and if you do a $5 post each day for 30 days you will earn $150 per month. That's just one post so imagine if you were doing 7 posts each day.

Other paid blogging sites to check out are:

www.blog vertiser.com
www.blogitive.com
w ww.blogginads.com
www.payperpos t.com
www.BuzzByBlog.com
www.inb logads.com
www.reviewme.com
www. payu2blog.com

All of these sites have their own terms and conditions but for the majority of them all you need is an active blog that is at least 90 days old and is active.
