Winning the war on terrorism can be accomplished by military, civilian, and idealistic preparations. Military occupation of Iraq by our Armed Forces have been debated back and forth since our invasion. Political proponents argue Iraq stored Weapons of Mass Destruction and housed training camps for terrorists. Both sides present reasonable arguments for and against our involvement in Iraq.
Our first objective is to identify if there is truly a terrorist existence that threatens America. Since 1979, Islamic radicals have perpetrated attacks on Americans and American interests at home and abroad. Lackadaisal action or total inaction by several American Presidents have contributed to terrorists organizations continuing to train, threaten, and attack America at home and around the globe. Ignoring the consequences in Spain in 2004, India in 2008, and America in 2001 an 1993 is to say terrorism has no real punch to be of concern. The timid ness of Presidents Carter, Clinton, and Obama have led to American hostages, bombing of American interests, and proliferation of terrorism aimed specifically at attacking America. The strength and aggressiveness of Presidents Reagan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr have been castigated by liberals in America, but have resulted in no attacks on our soil. The exception, of course, is 9/11 which was planned for during the Clinton Administration.
Ignoring attacks on Americans, American Embassies, and American Troops and ships abroad, and closing the terrorist detention facility at Gitmo merely sends a message of weakness to the terrorists. President Carter permitted Americans to be held hostage by Islamic radicals for 444 days, who were finally released by terrorists fearing President Reagan's election as President in 1980. President Clinton allowed two terrorist bombings to be planned and carried out at the World Trade Center. The response during his Administration was to cut the CIA budget by 40% eliminating the intelligence gathering on terrorism against America. Our current Administration is closing the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay which houses many dangerous terrorists.
Winning the war on terrorism can only be achieved by aggressive action by our leaders, strong military presence, and civilian preparation for any of the possible attacks of Weapons Of Mass Destruction. Military action against terrorist training camps, stronger protection of our borders, fifth columnist infiltration of terrorist organizations, interrogation and incarceration of captured terrorists, unwaivering resolve by our leaders against terrorist organizations, and civilian preparation through education, clinic, and disaster planning will only improve America's chances of aborting a successful terrorist attack in our immediate future.
The Islamic terrorists have already proclaimed their hatred for America and intentions to annihilate us. The coddling of terrorists have only strengthened their resolve to commit further acts of terrorism against us. America's isolation during the 1930s and early 1940s allowed the Nazis impetus in their efforts to control the world. Lack of resolve, aggressiveness and preparations will only lead to more horrific terrorist attacks in America. The liberals "turning of the other cheek" or to "play fair" can only bear catastrophic consequences for America in the certain future attacks on our soil. Our policy of being fair and righteous will only lead to our demise.
