Poetry: Dust

CHORES

Do you see, up there, by the light,

it's dust and cobwebs from last summer!

What could be under my bed

where my lover is soundly sleeping.

I must go through the house

and clean the books, polish the shelves,

the nightstand, still he sleeps.

How beautifully he sleeps.

Let the dust lay where it may.

My spot is still warm next to his body.
