*Stepping Out*
(Verse 1)
He's been gone for a long time
But still she can't let go.
Her mind fills with questions,
about things she would rather not know.
She stares down at her ring.
The promise feels like a curse.
She jerks it off her finger
and flings it in her purse.
Everything she does- reminds her of those times again.
She just wants to get her thoughts off of him.
(Chorus)
The weekend has come.
It's time to relax.
There is no reason to worry
about the things in the past.
Friday night is her moment,
She is stepping out.
She will let go of her inhibitions
and learn to scream and shout.
Whiskey and vodka aren't a good mix
but when she drinks long enough
They are a temporary fix.
When Monday comes- life will resume
but tonight she's stepping outto drink away the blues.
(Verse 2)
She puts on her black dress.
She hasn't worn it in years.
As she looks in the mirror,
her eyes fill with tears.
She brushes her hair
and pins back the gray.
She paints on her makeup
and pretends its okay.
Time has been hard on her.
She wishes she was pretty again
She chokes back the memories
and forces a grin.
(Chorus)
The weekend has come.
It's time to relax.
There is no reason to worry
about the things in the past.
Friday night is her moment,
She is stepping out.
She will let go of her inhibitions
and learn to scream and shout.
Whiskey and vodka aren't a good mix
but when she drinks long enough
They are a temporary fix.
When Monday comes- life will resume
but tonight she's stepping outto drink away the blues.
(Verse 3)
The bills are piling up.
She feels so behind.
No matter what she does,
things won't leave her mind.
She can't help but wonderwhere she went wrong
and why she was blindedfor so long.
She knows more than anything, she needs to get away
or else this worrying will put her in an early grave.
The kids are at the sitters
and there is gas in the car.
It's time to take some me time
down at the local bar.
(Chorus)
The weekend has come.
It's time to relax.
There is no reason to worry
about the things in the past.
Friday night is her moment,
She is stepping out.
She will let go of her inhibitions
and learn to scream and shout.
Whiskey and vodka aren't a good mix
but when she drinks long enough
They are a temporary fix.
When Monday comes- life will resume
but tonight she's stepping outto drink away the blues.
