*Her pay-day*
(Verse 1)
She stood there crying- in the park.
She was trying to focus- there in the dark.
She replayed the details and all of the times,
She knew things weren't right
But hoped she was out of her mind.
All of his actions brought her here.
It was time to face her biggest fear.
She had heard before
That he got around.
He convinced her it wasn't true,
That others just wanted to bring her down.
She made it into the clearing and she spotted his car.
He was wrapped in the embrace of another- and they were gazing at the stars.
He saw her over his shoulder as she turned to run.
Her heart broke in pieces this relationship was done.
(Chorus)
"Revenge is sweet"
is all she could say.
She tried to find comfort
knowing every dog has its day.
He had it good
but he did her wrong.
Let him lay in the gutter
That's where he belongs.
There was no denying that she was in pain
but when you have nothing to lose, you can only gain.
No doubt the betrayal was more than real.
still deep down she knew,
She was going to heal.
He stood there begging as she held her head high and walked away.
Inside she was free- and it was her pay-day.
(Verse 2)
He did everything he could to persuade her.
He claimed all he wanted was to reconcile.
She stood strong and didn't let him sway her.
She wouldn't return his calls.
She was better off without him,
although the realization took years.
He had infected her,
and caused so many tears.
She was able to pick up the pieces.
She learned to move on.
The last time she saw him-
He was all alone.
(Chorus)
"Revenge is sweet"
is all she could say.
She tried to find comfort
knowing every dog has its day.
He had it good
