I started using the Internet way back in 1998 and have since then been addicted to it. For me this addiction to the Internet is far from over as every day I wake up to find something new, something more interesting than what I did the previous day. The Internet with its ever increasing dominance over our lives has still lots of unexplored and undeveloped potential. We are still to witness its full power.
I initially started using the Internet to access the e-mail, with my first ever e-mail account created on Yahoo. It offered me the most convenient way to stay in touch with family and friends abroad. I used to write letters to them earlier which used to take days to reach but the Internet made it possible with a simple click.
Then my hunger for information started to grow and I became found of sites that offered me loads of insights on things that were new to me or that interested me. I became a regular visitor to sites like wikipedia and howstuffworks.
Then came along the Chat era with the installation of Yahoo messenger on my computer. I used to chat all day with friends and family. In fact I made quite a few new friends over the messenger. The messenger offered me freedom to interact using voice, video and text. Now, yahoo messenger and gtalk have become an indispensable part of my life.
Along came the hunger for rich multimedia applications over the Internet. This was the time when Internet became a source of entertainment for me offering me with music in the for of mp3, videos in the form of youtube, live TV, etc.
The addiction to Internet is such that I have stopped purchasing newspaper as I get an e-paper delivered right to my mail box every morning.
The recent craze of social networking sites has hit me big time with accounts on facebook, orkut, hi5 and twitter. Blogging has become another good pass time for me.
As soon as I started earning money, I opened an Internet banking account through which I have started shopping online. I purchase movie DVD's, Game titles, Electronics, etc. from ebay and circuitcity.
To unwind myself after a long days work I hook on to the Internet to play stress buster games java or flash based. These online games help me unwind and relieve all the stresses.
In all the Internet is the one and only source of entertainment, connectivity, lifestyle, convenience and information for me. For those of you who haven't been able to hook on to the internet bandwagon, my personal suggestion would be to climb on as this will take you places far beyond your imagination and will stretch the boundaries to the maximum.
