Songs: Longing

by Maria Brogna

Created on: February 15, 2009

Playing in the park wishing for another hand

The one you've held all this time is familiar as sand

warm and real

but not what you want to feel.

Television talks but you dont listen

dreaming of a family you envisioned

So much longing without fear

Growing stronger every year.

The phone rings and you rush to see

but your hoping for someone that it will never be.

I want to tell you whats true

But how could I ever hurt you.

He's done it so well and with a grin.

Abandonment and cruelty are only two of his sins.

He's gone for reasons I will never tell,

but trust me we are better off in this Hell.

Longing for something far away

He'd only cause pain and want to stay.

We can afford this sacrifice

It will alter us with his vice.

But your longing will always make me sad

that you wish for something that you never had.
