The best thing about being a kid...
has got to be the toys,
I remember when I was a girl,
the things that brought me joy.
Remember Raggedy Ann,
and her friend Andy?
The easy bake oven,
you could bake cakes and candy.
We collected garbage pail kid cards,
They were pretty gross.
We played jump rope and hop scotch,
hoola hoops, and dosey doed.
I loved my Rock em Sock em Robots,
that was the greatest thing!
back in the days of the slinky,
and the tire swing.
They try to bring things back,
It's just not the same.
Every generation has to twist things up,
They think they are better changed.
They have new Cabbage Patch kids,
A new Strawberry shortcake too,
There are new Carebears,
They even redid Scooby Doo.
I could go on all day...
about the things from my youth.
I would rather go out and play,
There's so much I can still do.

I sit here in my recliner
With a computer in my lap,
And I just wrote some folks some emails
And they got them in a snap!

Lessons from the Garden
As a child I walked between the rows
of my mother's garden,
kicking up bouquets of dust
from soil so

The procession was somber and not very far
As they carried his coffin to the funeral car
Few had he known in his lifetime

The Hallway
We used to sit
On the worn-out carpet
In the hallway
And listen
While she'd play
Masterpiece after masterpiece
