As a female I do believe it is possible that male attitudes could contribute to a woman deciding to be a lesbian. If a women has been treated badly by men throughout her life she may decide to try a female relationship. Whether she decides to live her life as a lesbian depends on how well her first lesbian experience went. If it went badly she may decide to go back to men. If it goes really well then she may decide that lesbianism is for her. Of course this is not the only reason women decide to many a lesbian. Many factors need to be taken into account when looking at someone's sexuality.
A lot of times sexual orientation is something that people are born with. However, there are times when outside influences determine the sexual preference of an individual. This may not happen very often but I know that it does happen. I have friends who are lesbians and it is not because of male attitudes. However, I do have one lesbian friend who was fed up with the attitudes she experienced with men. I believe this did lead her to choose a life of lesbianism. Most gay women, I think, are born with a preference for the female persuasion. I am sure there is a percentage of women who were influenced by their environment. It may not be a big percentage but it is there none the less.
If a women's father had a very bad attitude toward her it is possible she could decide to be a lesbian. A women's father has the ability to help shape his daughter's environment and belief systems. Some women in this environment could find that it effects their sexuality at least to some degree. Will this cause every women who has had a father with a bad attitude to become a lesbian? That is not likely to happen but a few might become gay because of it. Take, for example, the movie "Monster" the main character was a prostitute. She was not treated very well by the men she was with. She decided to become a lesbian among other things. This movie was based on a true story, so this kind of thing does happen occasionally.
I do believe there are many factors that determine if a women is going to become a lesbian. Some are genetic, some are environmental, and some are just pure choice. Some women just choose to become a lesbian because it is what they like. There is nothing wrong with being gay as long as the person is happy with the decisions they have made. If a women feels like they are a lesbian purely because they have been around a man with a bad attitude they might need to seek counseling. They might need to understand that not all men have bad attitudes and that if they chose one with a good attitude they may decide not to be a lesbian. Whatever they choose it needs to come from their heart and not from their environment.
