->Buy your dress off the rack
I know, I know, "off the rack" is a phrase that causes brides to shudder, but it can save you a ton. Most bridal shops are willing to sell the sample dresses (the one that women try on) at a greatly reduced price. Sample sales are also a great time to look for dresses. The up side is that you can get a great dress for a lot less than the usual price; the down side is that you may have a hard time finding your size, especially if you are particularly tiny. Bridal shops usually stock dresses in larger sizes and then clip the back if necessary so they will fit the most women. Chances are if you are buying off the rack you will need to get the dress altered. This will add to the cost, but most dresses require altering anyways.
->Make your own centerpieces
Centerpieces can cost you 30 - 100 bucks a table! Think about what you want, and see if you can make them. My mom and I ordered Gerbera Daisies from a local grocery store; they were beautiful and only cost 0.75 a piece. We bought black rocks and vases from IKEA, black ribbon from Wal-mart and made our own simple centerpieces. The day before the wedding we 3 bright daisies together with black ribbon, anchored them in the rocks, filled the vases with water and voila! We made 15 pieces for under 5 bucks a pop. Enlist the help of your bridesmaids and spend a day seeing what you can come up with. Not is this a fun way to spend time with your girls, but it can save you a ton!
These are just a few ways you keep the cost of your wedding down without sacrificing the wedding of your dreams. Of course, every couple is different and so is every wedding, so pick what works for you. Happy planning!
