A MOMENT TRAPPED FROM LIFE
Stuffed bears in a corner
Books stacked on the chest
Dried flowers in a brass jar
Unlit candles waiting by
Yesterday's socks in a jumble
By last week's papers on the floor
Hats hung on a mirror
What need for more than one
The trappings of life about me
The material necessities of comfort
The smothering warmth of possessions
Too many, too much, not finished yet
Unopened queries, unopened mail
Penny jars wait to be filled
Pictures of places never wandered
Thoughts of wandering places never pictured

Maybe there is such a thing as fate,
or maybe
