Memphis

I'm ready for the beginning to end

it's time to move on,

the future is wide open

and the past is gone.

Drastic impulses disturb my daily life

a fever for a change,

time to make my move

however strange.

Nerves break my steady drive

I doubt my very dreams,

an impossible fantasy

more real than it seems.

A desire so intense

down deep in my soul,

a new way to be

no other place to go.

I long to be away from all that's near,

no longer wanting anything that's here.

Drastic days lead to drastic ways,

searching for something else to say.

Lonely butterflies circle my stomach

spoiling my will,

pulling me in different directions

waiting for the tears I will spill.

A restless longing fills me up

being unable to follow my dreams,

leaving mine a half empty cup

but I'm still drowning it seems.

Only time will tell where life will lead

dreading the path but feeling so free,

pondering which advise to heed

I know Memphis is where I want to be.

I long to be away from here

away from everything thats near

drastic times call for drastice measures

searching for some endless pleasures.
