You look out your bedroom window, your fingers tap the ledge,

Longing for the man of your dreams,

Your heart skips a beat, you stand on your toes as you wait on edge,

Waiting impatiently, forever it seems;

.............................................. ................

You begin to feel helpless and lost, as your body's getting more tense,

Longing for your man to appear,

You bite your lower lip, the only thing you feel is the heightened suspense,

Your heavy breathing is all you hear;

............................................... ...............

You stare down at your watch, loosely wrapped around your wrist,

Wondering why he's so late,

You shake your head back and forth, you roll your hand into a fist,

Wondering if he forget your date;

............................................... ...............

You long for a reason why,

You live your life this way;

You long for a reason why,

These thoughts won't go away.

..

You long for a reason why,

You never seem to catch a break;

You long for a reason why,

You put yourself, your love at steak.

You locked yourself up tight, you put a "condemned" sign upon your head,

You made yourself the same old promise;

You used the same old story, the same old, worn out line you always said,

When any man came close enough to kiss.

You've been through all this pain before, and you ask yourself why,

You'd put yourself through it all again;

You know those feelings are hard to fight, so you give it another try,

One more time to find the right man.

And you never throw the key away, cause you just can't take the chance,

Another man will come and rip out your heart;

But you always long for the day, for the right man to make your body dance,

You always long for that man, that new start.

And as the sun makes its final descent, it gets harder for you to see,

You cross your fingers, you close your eyes and pray,

You listen intently as each car roars by, hoping each one would be,

Driven by the man you who took your breath away.

You spent so much of your life alone;

You lost every man you'd ever known.

You just don't lock yourself away for good;
